This year the FRA is 50 years old! To celebrate, the FRA has selected a set of 50 races, 17 of which were in existence in 1970, to form an FRA 50@50 championship. One of those 17 was our very own Eldwick Gala Fell Race. See the FRA web site for more details. To join in with their celebrations, we have chosen this year’s Bingley Fell Championship races from that list so you can earn credits in both championships.
As usual, there are 10 fell races in the list and your best five scores will count. Prizes will be awarded to the top runners overall, the top female runners and in each of the veteran categories.
Best of up to 5 scores, from the 10 Championship races, to count; the 5 races must include races at two lengths of the Fell Runners Association (FRA) categories Short (S, <10km), Medium (M, 10-20km) and Long (L, >20km). 50 points are awarded to the first Bingley runner down to 1 point for the 50th runner. It would be great to see 1 point awarded in at least one of the races – it is possible, we had 56 runners out in the December 2018 Gathering Winter Fools relay!
To get points you must be entered as a Bingley Harrier and club vests must be worn
There will be one results category for each of these groups:
1) The whole club
3) Women Vet 40
4) Men Vet 40
5) Women V50
6) Men Vet 50
7) Women Vet 60
8) Men Vet 60
We recently reduced the number of races and qualifiers in the Club championships to limit fixture clashes for athletes and help the club focus on priority events. We want as many runners as possible to take part in the fell championship, and have chosen a mix of Short, Medium and Long races to encourage new runners to take part but also provide challenge to experienced fell runners.
