British Athletics Cross Country Challenge 2018
Vicki Merrick (U20) and Emily Field (U17) competed at Liverpool (Sat 24 Nov) and Milton Keynes (Sat 10 Nov) with good results against nationwide competition. A Merrick photo – thankyou.
Earlier in the month Vicki also ran the Abbey Dash – “Couldn’t have been happier with my first 10k road race at abbey dash today, 39:21…over the moon”. Well done Vicki.
Bingley Harriers Autumn Handicap 4.7m 894’ ascent Sat 10 Nov 2018
Nicky Clay (49.36 actual time) was 4 minutes clear of the rest of the 28 strong field followed by Joanne Henry (53.28) and another 3 minute gap. Their handicaps will be longer next time! Well done Nicky & Jo for good runs and not getting lost! Ruth Thackray (39.58) was fastest lady. Ladies made up over half the field – Mari Johnson (49.45), Charlotte Hazel (51.05), Shona Stone (43.00), Sue Fulton (55.38), Alison Marks (75.38), Caroline Francis (47.45), Jo Buckley (42.32), Sue Cordingley (47.36), Lisa Pearson (53.04), Becky Weight (48.10), Eliza Findlay (47.50), and Eleanor Brown (56.03). Eleanor may have been harbouring early news of her pregnancy. I think it is general news now J. Congratulations to Eleanor and James Senior.

Harriers vs Cyclists BS 8.5km 288m – 17 Nov 2018
Six Bingley ladies amongst the 23 Bingley runners and many more Bingley organising, marshalling, time keeping, etc in our own Bingley Harriers hosted race from the Fisherman’s pub up Hope Hill. Well done Shona – 8th lady (2nd W40) against some top notch competition and welcome to the fells and muddy feet to our next finisher and new member Szilvia – may you enjoy many more.

Bingley Harriers Christmas Handicap 8miles 1317’ ascent. Sat 22 Dec 2018
Despite coming second in the Autumn Handicap Jo Henry (1.33.52) got a good handicap (that never happens!) and came in first over 3 minutes ahead of her 23 competitors. Well done Jo – the extra training and focus is definitely paying off. Shona Stone (1.12.22) was second overall and Jo Buckley (1.05.37) was fastest lady. Faye (1.40), Szilvia(1.16), Lisa(1.35), Sue F (1.30), Becky (1.22), Alison(1.37), and Ann Smith (guest W70, 2.10) enjoyed their runs too.

Despite the entries filling in a matter of hours 22 Bingley Harriers including 8 ladies managed to get places in this very popular Boxing Day run. 1165 runners crossed the finish line including 450 ladies. Ruth had a storming run finishing 9th Female. Shona, Vicki, Lesley and Sarah all finished in the top 25 with Ruth, Shona and Lesley taking 1,2 & 3 F45 places.
Jack Wood (38.50) and Helen Thurston (46.04), both from Ilkley, were the winners.
