Autumn Handicap

Ready for the off, 2018 Race

The Autumn Handicap has been held in one form or another since 1896. In 1967 it started from Beckfoot Lane near Cottingley Bridge and is now held in the grounds of St. Ives Estate in Bingley. At just under five miles, the course is all off-road involving uphill, downhill, cross country, fell and trail running.

Runners set off at intervals according to their handicap, so everyone finishes around the same time.

The winner is awarded the Hannah Lister Trophy to go with their ‘favourable’ handicap; non-winners receive an ‘awful’ handicap.

Although this is a Club event, guests are welcome.

The course will be marked and marshalled, but runners should familiarise themselves with the route beforehand.
