Restarting Training Sept 20 With Covid-19 Control Measures in place

To All Members – Below is a club email issued 2 Sep 20; if you haven’t received it please check your junk mail in case your email system has ‘rejected it’, then contact the Secretary (secretary@bingleyharriers.org.uk) to check your email on the distribution list.

Further to the email in early August we are pleased to provide details of Bingley Harriers training sessions and coaching available.  We have been working to apply the England Athletics (EA) guidelines for re-starting athletic activity with Covid-19 control measures in place.

Some of our regular training locations are still closed or not available to us including the running track and associated facilities at UAK, Keighley and Beckfoot School, Bingley.

We are able to use the Bradford & Bingley (B&B), Wagon Ln, Bingley and some public spaces.  Initial details are given below and further details of Run Leaders and Coaches to contact, and procedures will be on the Website https://www.bingleyharriers.co.uk/ and on a Facebook Event https://www.facebook.com/groups/bingleyharriers/events by Wed 2 Sep.

For activities at B&B the upper bar (White Rose Suite) only is open with Covid-19 control measures in place.  You are welcome to stay on for a drink in the upper bar after your run.

It is important to note the following…

1. If you or any member of your household has, or is suspected as having, the Covid 19 virus, or is displaying the symptoms of the virus you must not come to any training sessions.

2. We also need to make you aware of your responsibilities to yourself, your coaches, your club and the general public and ask you to read the EA  ‘Guidance for Athletes and Runners : return to activity’  https://d192th1lqal2xm.cloudfront.net/2020/08/EA-return-to-activity-guidance-athletes-runners-04.08.2020.pdf_0.pdf_1.pdf

Under EA Guidelines,  training groups are limited to 12 per Leader or Coach so it will be necessary to book with the Leader or Coach. Your attendance and contact details will be recorded to support any potential Covid-19 Test & Trace requirements.

Training fees are payable and, in general, will be due for any sessions attended.  We are looking at the best way to deal with this in a Covid secure manner but do not want to delay re-starting activities, so we will come back to this.

We recognise that some athletics activities e.g. Sprints, Jumps,  are not catered for above, largely as the facilities are not open.  We hope you have been able to maintain your activities in some way and keep in touch with your coaches during the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.  If you need coaching advice (as a Coach or Athlete) please contact our Coaching Co-ordinator  Keith Daniel keith.daniel@fulleffect.co.uk who will point you in the right direction.

If you are not running at the moment or are a non-running volunteer and would like to be involved and help with the re-start of activities please let Becky Weight know – there are many things to be done.

Finally, it has been and still is a difficult time for everyone. The rules and guidelines are subject to change at short notice so please be respectful of the locations, others, and to the club and club officials as we try to get things going again.
