Blackfell Race 2018 Report

  • by

Normally when I write the 37 brave souls set off on a race it means that the weather was terrible, but the same statement can be made for this years race with temperatures close to 30 degrees C and glorious sunshine. The weather coupled with a football match that was taking place at 3pm meant that the entry was a little lower for this years race compared to last years, I really can’t understand why FIFA couldn’t move the time of the match!

The weeks and weeks of dry weather meant that those that could cope with the heat ran fast and this is shown by both men’s and ladies records being broken this year. First home was Alasdair McLeod from Leeds City in a record time of 1:18:53 knocking 1 min 42 sec off Ted Mason’s record from last year. First home for the ladies was Helen Berry from Holmfirth in a record time of 1:44:00 shaving 23 seconds of last year record set by Majka Kunicka.

Many thanks to all the helpers that stepped forward to help this year, this also included a few people from other clubs.

Full results can be found here.

Hope to see you all, and a few more, at next years race.

Many Thanks,

Stephen Firth
