PECO League 2016-17: Race Two
Middleton Park, Leeds, was the venue for the second race of the league.
It was disappointing that only three of our juniors took part, but, on the positive side, it was pleasing to see Fern Garbutt make her cross country début.
The results were:
Years 4-6 Girls
19th Fern Garbutt
Years 4-6 Boys
26th Louis Lancaster
34th Seth Driver
PECO League 2016-17: Race Three
Conditions at West Park, Leeds, were much better than last year for the third race of the league, though there were still some very muddy patches on the course. Pleasingly there was a better turnout from our juniors and some splendid running.
Of particular mention were the individual victories of Rebecca and Alex Flaherty, showing the form that has already brought them success this season.
Louis Lancaster and Seth Driver continued their progress, and Holly Walters and Fern Garbutt ran solidly in what was, numbers wise, the biggest field of the league so far.
In the longer race, Katie Smith again achieved a fine 3rd place in her age-group, and is now well placed in the overall standings.
The results were:
Years 4-6 Girls
1st Rebecca Flaherty
18th Holly Walters
28th Fern Garbutt
Years 4-6 Boys
28th Louis Lancaster
33rd Seth Driver
Years 7-9 Boys
1st Alex Flaherty
Years 10-12 Girls
3rd Katie Smith
There are two races remaining in what is always a most friendly event, and we would love to see more of our youngsters taking part in them. Details are to be found on the PECO XC website.
