The opening fixture of the League once again took place at Thornes Park, Wakefield, on a fine, sunny day, and conditions underfoot were excellent.
A total of 27 juniors took part, with a good number of them making their debut in the League, and it was a very encouraging start to the season, with some fine individual performances, and some very promising team results.
The Club had no Junior Women, but was represented in every other race. We had five scoring teams: the U11 Girls came 2nd, the U11 Boys 7th, the U13 Boys 3rd, the U17 Women 3rd, and the U17 Men 2nd. This was our best overall team performance in my time as Team Manager: well done everybody!
Individually we had three 2nd places: Rebecca Flaherty in the U11 Girls, her brother Alex in the U13 Boys and Reuben Mantle in the U17 Men. However, as can be seen from the results below, there were many more splendid performances, not the least from our debutants William Askew, Ben Brown, Dylan Ball, Emily Field, James Askew, Josh Spencer and Izzy Harris.
