West Yorkshire Sportshall Athletics

  • by

Bingley Harriers are the West Yorkshire County organisers and organise the West Yorkshire Sportshall athletics Trials and then organise the Teams to go forward to the West Yorkshire Championships and UK Championships.

The West Yorkshire Teams found the competition tough in the early days of Sportshall Athletics with qualification to National Finals being at a premium and difficult to come by. As the West Yorkshire standard improved we found that we have had regular qualification of the U13/U15 Boys & Girls teams reaching the National finals, although it is by no means automatic qualification.

In order to recruit the best all round teams, Trials are organised at Richard Dunn Sports Centre where we hope to attract West Yorkshires best.

2016  SPORTSHALL  ATHLETICS  COMPETITIONS

For the last 2 years the  Under  11 and Under 13/15 regional competitions were combined for Yorkshire to help save costs.  The West Yorkshire Trials will be held in the morning for the Under 11s and in the afternoon on the same day for the Under 13/15s. If anyone can help on day, setting up or helping on the events please let me or Christine know.

We do need plenty of entries to ensure we have sufficient income to pay the costs in running the Trials and the entry fees for the teams in the regional finals.

At the regional finals West Yorkshire will be required to provide 5 Officials/ parents to help on the day so if you know of anyone that could help please let me know.

Date for your diary

Saturday   16th January 2016   – Richard Dunn Sports Centre, Bradford

10am   West Yorkshire Under 11 Trials .

2:30pm    West Yorkshire Under 13/Under 15 Trials

Sunday 14th February  –  Yorkshire Regional Finals  (Under 11,13,15 combined)  Halifax.

UK Finals   to be confirmed in April.

The entry forms for the Under 11 Trials and the Under13/15 Trials can be found below.

We would encourage as many Bingley Harriers Juniors to enter and have a go. For the under 11 trials it does say that the junior has to be 9 on the day of the competition but if they are nearly 9 and confident we would have no objection to them entering for the experience.

Any parents wishing to help on the day “please” then let me now and I can easily find a job. Help is needed setting up, putting away as well as helping being an official marking scores etc.

Pass the message on and bring mates from school. You need to post in the entry form completed on both sides! With payment and an envelope addressed to yourself so we can send the number and programme.
