In the last but one Cross Country event of the season, held in Witton Park, Blackburn, on Saturday 14 March, three of our talented youngsters were representing West Yorkshire.
In the U14 Boys Reuben Mantle, the junior county champion, was unlucky to feel under the weather, but still managed to be one of the counters in 178th position.
Matthew Merrick, in his first year in the Inters age-group, finished in 269th position, which was rather disappointing for him, though he later found out that he had been selected to represent the county in the London Mini-Marathon.
Emile Cairess, also in his first year in the Senior age-group, underlined his national status with a fantastic 9th place on what was a very tough course.
