Yet again Northcliffe Playing Fields provided a very stern test at the annual BSAA Championships, and it was very pleasing to see so many of our Club runners churning through the mud and battling against the wind to qualify for the Bradford team for the West Yorkshire SAA Championships at Silcoates School on February 7.
From the eight races there were five individual winners : Grace Dawson in the Y7G, Eliza Findlay in the JG, Reuben Mantle in the JB, Vicki Merrick in the IG, and Emile Cairess in the SB; four second places, Alex Flaherty in the Y7B, Olivia Roper in the IG, Tommy Thorp in the IB, and Sarah Dewhirst in the SG; and two thirds, Bethan Johnston in the IG and Matthew Merrick in the IB.
In all 17 of our runners qualified for the Bradford team:
JG 1st Eliza Findlay
4th Katie Smith
6th Lucy Miller
JB 1st Reuben Mantle
8th James Askew
9th Joseph Treasure-Jones
IG 1st Vicki Merrick
2nd Olivia Roper
3rd Bethan Johnston
4th Maia Cameron
5th Isobel Harris
IB 2nd Tommy Thorp
3rd Matthew Merrick
4th Max Duckett
7th Jamie Tse
SG 2nd Sarah Dewhirst
SB 1st Emile Cairess
Well done to all of those above, but also to Kiran Bashir (JG) and Jack Smith (IB), both of whom came very close to making the team.
