Bank Holiday Monday, no rain and no trip to the red rose county for a junior fell race, could this be possible! Ho yes it could, nice little trip over to our friends at Calder Valley who were hosting the 3rd counter in both the Junior English FRA Championship and the Junior Bingley Harriers Championship.
The day started with a surprise, joining the parents on the fell side were Kerry and Rick Gilchrist, were they going to run in the senior race?, had they brought the tea and biscuits for the parents?, had they brought a bag full of chocolate for the junior runner?, none of these, they were there on a spying mission for our very own TTT race weekend which is hosting the 7th counter in the FRA junior championship. In Kerry’s words, do these events always attract so many juniors and if so, we make our race bigger and better. Great to have Kerry and Rick for the organising of the TTT, I know the juniors will love it with Kerry and Rick making it a great day and weekend. So for all you out there, please support the weekend (12th and 13th July), as we need marshals to protect not only our juniors, but the juniors from the other clubs on the 13th July. Now, less of the promoting and onto why I’m here! Individual results on the link below and it’s always great to see the individuals results, but today what pleased me was having teams entered in all of the races, from the U8’s through to the U16’s. We should have 3 great scorers from the races which I hope will push up the Bingley team in the FRA team event. After the 1st counter we were 12th, after the 2nd counter we were 8th, so let’s hope we can make a place or two after this counter.
