Rhea Southcott ended the Track & Field season with a resounding win in the Yorkshire Combined events Championship, beating 10 other competitors in the Under 13 Girls Track & Field Triathlon with 1446 points.

In the competition athletes could chose 3 out of 4 events and Rhea opted for 80m in 11.53 secs, Long Jump 4.39m and Shot Put of 9.21m, passing on the 800m. Rheas 1446 points was 33 points clear of 2nd place Grace Platter from Leeds City . In the Junior Ladies Heptathlon Championship Bingley’s Hollie Postlethwaite came 2nd with a score of 3095 points behind Beth Ported of Wakefield Harriers.Rhea jumping

We look to more Bingley juniors taking part in combined event competitions and emulating Jessica Ennis and Katarina Johnson Thomas on the international stage. How about the Men where there is obviously massive openings for British competitors. Rheas season has been terrific with results as follows:- 1st/Gold Medal winner Sheffield South Yorkshire Indoor 4 x Match Series – Combined Events 2013 1st Place/Gold Plaque winner West Yorkshire Track and Field Winner 2013, Won the league by 40 points 3rd Place/Bronze Manchester Combined Athletics 2013 – 3rd from 47 competitors Youth Development League Finishes of 1st and 2nd in every event attended. Yorkshire Championships – Silver and a Bronze at the Yorkshires School Got her team to the Yorkshire Schools Finals for the first time in 7 years after winning the Bradford Schools competition.
