MATCH ONE OF THE NORTHERN TRACK & FIELD LEAGUE AT DONCASTER

Hi Ladies of the Track & Field team. Please accept my apology for the late report – I have been incredibly busy assisting the Smart Plants and Gardens gardening team!

Our first match took place at the wonderful Keep Moat Stadium in Doncaster on a lovely warm, sunny but very windy day. The ladies team was very small due to the Bank Holiday, University Champs, Injury and general unavailability. However the 9 ladies who were available to attend did extremely well with several personal best performances. We welcomed Amy Pollard and Lucy Oldroyd into the team and they both used the wind effectively to record good sprint times in both the 100m & 200m. Rosie McDonnell also making her debut for Bingley ran in the 400m & 4x400m relay in impressive style. Alana Gill obtained 3 personal bests in the 800m, 1500m and surprising the Shot Putt! Jo Buckley and Becky Weight were our superstar distance runners of the day and they also turned their hand to field events gaining valuable points in the Javelin!

Amy Howard showed her great versatility in winning the ‘A’ string Hammer & Discus, 3rd in the Shot Putt & Triple Jump and 2nd in the ‘B’ string Long Jump. The ‘A’ string Long Jump was won by Katie James with a personal best of 5m26. The 4x100m relay team came 3rd but the event of the day was the 4x400m winning team of Jenna Killock, Amy Pollard, Jo Buckley & Rosie McDonnell. Well done ladies an awesome performance.

The match result was; 1st Doncaster 394 2nd Chesterfield 338 3rd Bingley 310 4th Newark 291 5th Grantham 247 6th Pudsey & Bramley 170 We managed this result with only 9 ladies so if anyone else would like to be part of the Senior Team (Age 15 upwards) please let me know.
