It seemed an eternity since the first race at Horsforth on 3rd February, but the second finally arrived on a weekend of many races and it did well to attract 177 runners. On a cool, dry day, it was a fell-runners race of 1000 stiles (approximately)
Well organised and marshalled from Holmfirth Harriers base at Honley, the 9.75Km route took in some wind-swept hills, with mainly dry ground conditions.
55 ladies ran, first home Julia Johnson F50 Holmfirth in 48m-31
Bingley was represented by Marisol C-V, finishing 13th in 54m-47 and taking 3rd F40 award.
6 guests and 116 men competed, winner David Watson M40 Holmfirth in 37m-35
Bingley placings were:
31st Bryan Parkinson 48m-11, a very strong performance to take 1st M60.
52nd Peter Ellerton 51m-55, 2nd M65.
81st Peter Covey 56-57, he was full of cold and puffing like an old walrus, but still got 1st M70!
Bingley Harriers host the third race on 28th May. Vets or guest runners can register on the night at Bradford & Bingley. Entry £4 – allow time to register and to get to start on canal fields (same start as Harriers v cyclists race) for 7-30pm.
