Conditions at Nunroyd Park were the best any of us could remember and once again our runners all performed with distinction. Unfortunately, the number taking part was again rather disappointing, and it is a great pity that seven of those who entered the league have not yet made an appearance.
In the U11 Boys Logan Walker produced another excellent performance and Robbie Temple ran strongly but unfortunately, they had no team-mates. As for Mia Naylor and Abby Clay in the U11 Girls, both ran with real spirit and improved a good deal on their previous performances.
Still no U13 Boys, and there were some absentees from the U13 Girls, but this race again produced excellent performances from Martha Jackson and Rebecca Flaherty, with both finishing ahead of the young lady who beat them in the first race. Holly Walters, with an improved performance, ensured a good team result (3rd).
In the U15s Elinor Gorell was our one representative in the girls’ race and she stuck to the task very well to finish in 42ndplace. The boys were more strongly represented than in the first race, and their’s was the best team result of the day (1st). Alex Flaherty, Ben Rees and Theo Clay continued their excellent form and were well supported by Samuel Mantle and Joseph Smith.
In the U17 Women’s race Emily Field had a somewhat tougher race than last time, but once again prevailed impressively after a slight muddle over the lap-count.
One team win, two individual wins and two individual seconds represent a successful afternoon, but lack of numbers remains a problem which we need to resolve.
