| March 2008 winner - Carly Robertson |
During the month of March Carly represented her school Oakbank College at the Northern Schools Cross Country Championships held at Woodbank Park in Manchester. Carly ran in the Inter Girls race and crossed the line in 1st place. Carly’s next competition was at Sefton Park in Liverpool for the English Schools Cross Country Champs. Representing West Yorkshire Carly ran in the Junior Girls race and finished in a very creditable 74th place. Carly’s last competition in March was at the UK Inter Counties Cross Country Championships representing Yorkshire in the U15 Girls race. The race took place in Wollaton Park, Nottingham and Carly again produced a grrrreat performance and finished in a pawsome 49th place.

| February 2008 winner - Lucy Mayho |
During the month of February Lucy represented Bingley Harriers at the English National Cross Country Championships held at Alton Towers in Staffordshire. Lucy ran in the U20 Ladies’ race and came home in an excellent 19th place. Well done Lucy on your February Young Hound of the Month Award - hope your success continues in 2008. |
January 2008 winner - Jonathan Brownlee |
During the month of January Jonathan’s first competition was at the Yorkshire Cross Country Championships held in Huddersfield. He competed in the U20 Men’s race and came away with a Gold Medal. Jonathan then competed at the Bradford Schools Cross Country Championships held at Northcliffe Park in Shipley and again came first in the Senior Boys race. Jonathan’s performance gained him selection for the Bradford Schools Team to take part in the West Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships which were to be held at Batley Grammar School. Jonathan’s final achievement of the month was at the North of England Cross Country Championships held at Roundhay Park, Leeds. Jonathan ran in the U20 Men’s race and crossed the finish line in third place to gain the bronze medal. Well done Jonathan – keep up the pawsome running. |
| December 2007 winner - Holly Shreeve |
During the month of December 2007 Holly competed in the fourth and final West Yorkshire Cross Country League match held at Thornes Park, Wakefield. Holly competed in the Under 15 Girl’s race and crossed the finish line in second place. Holly’s excellent performance helped ‘Team Bingley’ to 3rd place in the U15 Girl’s Team competition. After the race Holly was awarded a Silver Medal for achieving 2nd place overall in the League (3 matches to count) and also picked up a Bronze medal for ‘Team Bingley’ in the league. | November 2007 winner - Alistair Brownlee |
| During the month of November Alistair represented Bingley Harriers at the third West Yorkshire Cross Country League match held in York. Alistair ran in the U20 Men’s race which is combined with the senior race and crossed the line first beating all the seniors and taking the junior race title from his 2nd placed brother Jonathan. Alistair’s next competition was at the UK Cross Challenge and European Trials held in Seften Park in Liverpool. Alistair ran in the U20 men’s race and came an incredible 8th place but just agonisingly missing out on a place in the Great Britain U20 Team for the European Cross Country. Well done Alistair you are the November young hound of the month. |

During the month of October Holly competed in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League held at Nunroyd Park in Leeds where she ran in the Under 17 Girl’s race and crossed the line in 6th place. Holly then competed in the second West Yorkshire Cross Country League held at Bramley Park in Leeds and again competed in the Under 17 Girl’s race and came home in an improved position of 5th place. Holly has two more races left in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League series – keep on improving. Well done Holly a grrrreat start to the Cross Country season. |

The September Young Hound of the Month winner is Holly Shreeve. During the month of September Holly represented Bingley Harriers at the West Yorkshire Track & Field Championships held at the Princess Mary Stadium in Cleckheaton. She ran in the U15 Girls 1500m final and came away with an excellent silver medal. Holly’s next competition for the month of September was at the Yorkshire Road Races held at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield. Holly competed in the U15 Girls race and crossed the line in 3rd place gaining a Yorkshire bronze medal which helped ‘Team Bingley’ win silver medals overall. Holly’s final competition for the month of September was for her school at the MLC Schools Cross Country Challenge. She came home in second place in the Year 9-10 Girls race despite being in the first year of her age group. Well done Holly – in all three of your athletic disciplines. |
| August 2007 winner - Adanna Okeahialam |
The August Young Hound of the Month winner is Adanna Okeahialam. During the month of August Adanna competed for Bingley at the North of England Knock Out Cup (Round one) held at the Costello Stadium in Hull. She competed in the Senior Ladies Discus and came 4th with a National U17 grade 3 performance. Adanna’s next competition in the month of August was in the British Athletic League ’10 in 100’ plate Final for Bingley held at the Bedford International Stadium. On the day Adanna performed outstandingly despite only being 15 years old. She was throwing against seasoned senior athletes but this didn’t put Adanna off as she gained a new personal best performance in the Hammer and produced a pawsome performance in the Discus.

| July 2007 winner - Matthew Cottam |
The July Young Hound of the Month winner is Matthew Cottam. During the month of July Matthew competed for Bingley at the Northern League Match (3) held at Preston Sports Arena. He competed in the Senior Men’s 100m and 200m and completed the sprint double with National Grade 2 U20 performances. Matthew’s next competition was representing North Yorkshire at the English School’s Track & Field Championships held at the Alexandra Stadium in Birmingham. He competed in the Senior Boy’s 200m and came a very creditable 5th in his heat despite struggling with a hamstring injury. The British Athletic League ’10 in 100’ Semi Final was Matthew’s next event which was held at the very wet Stanley Park in Blackpool. He stormed to victory in the Senior Men’s 100m equalling his PB of 11.00 which is a National Grade 1 U20 performance. Matthew’s last competition for the month of July was at the National Junior League held at the Princess Mary’s Playing Fields in Cleckheaton. Again Matthew completed the 100m and 200m sprint double in grade 3 and 2 National standards. Well done Matthew – keep working hard. |
| June 2007 winner - Laura Pitts |
The June Young Hound of the Month winner is Laura Pitts. During the month of June Laura competed for Bingley at the second match of the North of England Senior League team at Cleckheaton. She competed in the 400m Hurdles and 100m Hurdles ‘A’ races and came an excellent 3rd place in both races. Laura also competed in the 200m ‘B’ race and powered to victory in a new personal best time. Laura’s next competition was representing the City of Bradford at the West Yorkshire School Champs in Wakefield. Laura crossed the line first with a new personal best and also gained qualification for the West Yorkshire Team at the English Schools Track & Field Champs in Birmingham. Laura then made the short trip again to Wakefield for the ‘New’ British Athletics League 10 in 100 event. She competed in the 200m and 100m Hurdles and gained valuable points with two 3rd places which helped Team Bingley to qualify for the semi-final in Blackpool. Laura’s last competition for June was at the North of England U20 Championships held in Liverpool where she competed in the U20
400m Hurdles and came a very creditable 7th place in the final.

| May 2007 winner - Harrison Foster |
| The May Young Hound of the Month winner is Harrison Foster . During the month of May Harrison competed for Bingley in the first Senior League match of the season held in Stanley Park, Blackpool. He competed in the Senior Men’s ‘A’ string 200m and came first with a National Grade two performance and second in the Senior Men’s ‘B’ string 100m also with a grade 2 performance. Harrison’s next competition was at the Yorkshire Champs held in Barnsley. He competed in the U17 Men’s 200m and 100m and came away with a silver and bronze medal. Bradford Schools was Harrison’s next competition held in Cleckheaton. He sprinted his way to two Inter Boy’s titles in the 100m and 200m and these performances gained him selection for the Bradford Team for the next round (West Yorkshire Schools). Harrison then made the short trip again to Cleckheaton for the 2nd National Young Atheletes League match and crossed the line in first place in the 200m and in second place in the 100m. Harrison’s final competition for the month of May was at the South Leeds Stadium which hosted the Northern Champs for U15 and U17 athletes. Harrison qualified from his heat of the U17 200m and he powered his way to a very creditable 5th place in the final. Well done Harrison – pawsome sprinting |

The April Young Hound of the Month winner is Matthew Chambers . During the month of April Matthew represented West Yorkshire at The UK Sports Hall Final held at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Matthew competed in the U13 Boy’s age group where he ran in the 2 Lap sprint race and qualified for the final as one of the fastest athletes. Matthew ran exceptionally well in the final and crossed the line in second place for a well deserved silver medal. Matthew also came 10th in the Vertical Jump and he helped the U13 Boys relay team qualify for the final which they came a very creditable 6th place. Well done Matthew – pawsome performances. |

The March Young Hound of the Month winner is Thomas Crowley . During the month of March Thomas represented Bingley Harriers at the National Cross Country Championships held in Sunderland. Thomas ran in the U17 men’s race and came home in 32nd place. Thomas’ next competition was the short trip to Temple Newsham in Leeds for the English Schools Cross Country Champs. Representing West Yorkshire Thomas ran in the Inter Boys race and crossed the finish line in a very creditable 38th place. Thomas’ excellent run helped ‘West Yorkshire’ to silver medals in the team awards. Well done Thomas on your March of the Month Award. |
| February 2007 winner - Phillipa Medley |
The February Young Hound of the Month winner is Phillipa Medley . During the month of February Phillipa represented West Yorkshire at The Yorkshire Regional Sports Hall Final held at North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax. She competed in the U15 Girl’s All Rounder where she gained two gold and two silver medals. She won gold in the Speed Bounce and 4 x 2 Lap Relay and silver medals in the 2 Lap Race and Vertical Jump. Phillipa’s excellent performances gained her the All Rounder U15 Girls title and also helped the West Yorkshire Team to first place overall ahead of Humberside, South Yorkshire and North Yorkshire. She will now represent West Yorkshire at the UK Sports Hall Final at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Well done Phillipa and good luck in the Final. |

October 2006 winner - James Hall |
| During the month of October James competed in the the West Yorkshire Cross Country League held at the Salendine Nook High School in Huddersfield where he ran in the Under 11 Boy’s race and came first. James’s excellent performance helped ‘Team Bingley’ to 1st place overall. James then competed in the second West Yorkshire Cross Country League held at Boddington Hall in Leeds and he competed in the Under 11 Boy’s race and home in 3rd place. James has two more races left in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League series – good luck.

| August 2006 winner - Josh Allen |
| During the month of August Josh participated in the National AAA’s U15 Championships held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. He competed in the U15 Boys 400m where he came an excellent 3rd place in his heat with a National Grade one standard. Josh just missed out on a place in the final but came a pawsome 10th place overall this backs up his performance at the English Schools Championships where he came 9th overall.
At the last West Yorkshire Track & Field League match Josh was awarded the U15 Boys overall League Title for gaining the most points in the series.

| July 2006 winner - Oliver Robinson |
During the month of July Oliver represented Bingley Harriers Senior Team at Whitton Park, Blackburn. He competed in the 400m Hurdles and the 110m Hurdles and came away with two excellent 2nd places. Oliver’s next competition was at the English Schools Championships held in Gateshead. He represented West Yorkshire in the Senior Boys 110m Hurdles. In the heats Oliver cruised to the final in 2nd place and then came an outstanding 5th place in the final – a grrrreat performance.
Oliver’s final competition in July before jetting off to Argentina for a school rugby tour was the National Junior League match for Bingley at Preston’s Sports Arena. He achieved a double first and valuable points for Bingley in the U20 men’s 400m Hurdles and 110m Hurdles.

| June 2006 winner - Harriet Pickles |
| During the month of June Harriet represented the Bingley Harriers Senior Team at the second North of England Track & Field League match held in Preston. She came 4th in the 400m Hurdles, 3rd in the High Jump and 1st in the Triple Jump with a National Grade two standard. Harriet’s next competition was at the National Young Athletes Track & Field League match at Middlesbrough where she came away with three 1st places in the U17 300m Hurdles, Javelin and Triple Jump. Harriet’s Triple Jump performance was a new personal best and a National Grade two standard earning her the Athlete of the match award. The National Junior League Track & Field match at Cleckheaton was Harriet’s next competition where she competed in the U20 Javelin and Triple Jump. She gained two 1st places and a National Grade one performance and Athlete of the match in the Triple Jump. Harriet then represented Harrogate & Craven schools at the North Yorkshire School Championships. She finished 1st in the Inter Girls Triple Jump setting a new championship best and personal best. This performance gained Harriet selection for the North Yorkshire Team and a place at the English Schools Track & Field Championships in Gateshead. Harriet’s final competition for the month of June was at the North East Schools Combined Event Championships. She competed in the Inter Girls Heptathlon and came 4th gaining selection for the North Yorkshire Team at the English Schools Combined Event Championships in September.

| May 2006 winners - Ben Ambler & Amy Howard |
| During the month of May both Ben and Amy broke the Bingley Harriers Senior Club Records whilst representing Bingley at the Northern League match at Blackpool and at the National Junior League match at Cleckheaton. Ben broke the Javelin record with a throw of 54.81m and he also equalled his own Pole Vault record of 3.60m at Blackpool and Amy broke the Hammer record with a throw of 50.24m at Cleckheaton. At the start of the month Amy represented her University (Leeds Met) at the British Universities Championships in Birmingham and came a very creditable 5th place in the Hammer and Discus. Amy actually broke the Hammer Club Record at the ‘BUSA’s’ but went onto better the distance at the National Junior League match at Ceckheaton as mentioned previously. Ben’s Javelin performance at the National Junior League match at Cleckheaton also earned him the ‘Athlete of the Match’ medal which Amy also won at the previous match. Both Ben and Amy competed for Bingley at the Yorkshire Championships with Ben picking up a gold medal in the U20M Javelin, a silver in the U20M High Jump, a bronze in the U20M Shot and a 4th place in the Senior Men’s Javelin. Amy also did exceptionally well picking up a silver medal in the U20W Hammer behind GB International Sara Holt and a 4th place in the Discus. As you can see it was very hard to separate both Ben and Amy’s performances so we have decided to share the award for the month of May.

The April Winner is Animashaun Olanrewaju AKA - Larry Abbott . During the month of April Larry represented the Eastern Region at the North of England Inter Regional coaching match held at Robin Park in Wigan. Larry competed in the Under 18 High Jump and came away with a personal best of 1.80m. His next competition was at the National Junior League match at Cleckheaton where he increased his High Jump personal best again to 1.86m which is a National Grade 2 performance. He also gained personal bests in the 200m and Javelin showing what a grrreat asset Larry is to Bingley Harriers. The National Young Athletes League match held at Barnsley was Larry’s next competition where he achieved 1st place and ‘Athlete of the Match’ for the Under 17 High Jump with a clearance of 1.90m – a National Grade 1 performance and a new personal best.

| During the month of March Joanna represented West Yorkshire at The Yorkshire Regional Sports Hall Final held at North Bridge Leisure Centre in Halifax. Jonathan ran in the U17 Boys race and crossed the finish line in a very creditable 22nd place.

He will now represent Yorkshire at the UK Cross Challenge in Nottingham. Alistair was then selected for the Bradford Schools Cross Country Senior Boys Team where he competed in the West Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championship held at Northcliffe Park in Shipley. He had an excellent run and came home in first place which has qualified him for the West Yorkshire Schools Senior Boys Team at the English Schools Cross Country Championships in Mansfield.
