A great turnout of 27 runners for our first Junior Race for many years.
I'd plotted a course that took in fields, a little tarmac, hard trails, a few hills and some
technical sections which I thought would take the fastest juniors around 7 minutes to
complete. Bingley's rising star Emile proved me wrong blasting round the course in a little
over 6 minutes to lay down a tough course record. Emile was closely followed by
John Lockwood of Wharfedale and then we had what I think was the run of the day with
Alex Stewart a Bingley Harrier Under 10 coming in 3rd overall.
The girls Under 12 and Under 10 races were hotley contested with Bingley's Katy Boden
coming in first and setting the girls course record at 7 minutes 30 seconds. Abigail White,
another Bingley regular was just behind in second place and then 3rd place under 12
Victoria Merrick and 1st place Under 10 Olivia Roper crossed the line in a dead heat
to take joint 16th place overall.
I'm really pleased so many juniors turned out for this race which I hope we can repeat
next year - thanks to you all and your mums and dads for bringing you along!!
