There was a good turnout for this year's Christmas Handicap. Thankfully Saturday was dry to the great relief of marshals and runners. However the torrential rain on Friday ensured muddy conditions underfoot, making most times slower overall than last year.

Martin Peace was first home and fastest man. Ruth Whitehead was the fastest woman, coming 14th after missing her start time!

Stephen Firth failed to win his third handicap of the year; scotching dark rumours of favouritism from the handicapper.

There were the usual post race discussions in the Fisherman’s over pie and peas and a few drinks. Nobody got too lost and everybody enjoyed this very social event.
