Well it finally stopped raining for
this year's event. The ground was still heavy though and no
doubt resulted in slower times than usual.
Dave Benson gave a good account of himself to win his first
handicap and just kept 'secret trainer' Alan Greenwood at bay.
Andy Peace suffered a severe handicap due to too many 'top runners'
getting through to the front in recent handicaps. Some consolation
however was that he and Ruth both produced fastest men and women's
times of the day.
On the subject of handicapping, I am informed that the last
four runners home all made route finding errors which added
time on their scores, which, if true could have meant that all
twenty eight runners would have returned within 8 watch minutes.
Finally, it was very nice to see a handful of new members taking
part.
