Rhea Southcott – 2012-2013 Under 13 Sheffield Indoor Track & Field Series Winner

Over 4 meetings starting November 12, she beat the very best of Sheffield and North of England’s combined track and field athletes in mixed disciplines – 60, 150, 200, 600, 800,1000, lj, shot and high jump.

Some highlights of the series include recording the best 600 metre time of all the under 13 and under 15 girls combined, still just 11 – yesterday, and scoring  2 x maximum 80pts results on the shot with Grade A performances.

Yorkshire Vets AA Cross Country Championships, Wentworth Castle, Barnsley, Sat 16th Mar 2013

Bingley ladies managed to field teams at both XC championship events on Sat 16 Mar. The British Masters Athletics Federation (BMAF) was in Sunderland and more locally the YVAA event was in the pleasant surroundings of Wentworth Castle, nr Barnsley. The clash was unfortunate, or fortunate, depending on your point of view. Yorkshire Regional Sports Hall Athletics Finals

Bonus Arena, Hull

Four teams representing West Yorkshire travelled along the M62 to Hull on Sunday to compete in the annual Yorkshire Regional Final for places in the United Kingdom Finals to be held at the NEC in Birmingham on 7th April. This was the second round of a highly competitive series of events, which is designed to keep young athletes interested in the sport through the long winter months of training. It was held at the Bonus Arena on Sunday, between the Yorkshire Areas – North Yorkshire, Humberside and West Yorkshire.  The performances on the day were outstanding 3 of the 4 teams winning and qualifying on the day for the UK Finals. In the Under 15 Girls Ambah Thompson was Overall Under 15 individual Champion.

In this years competition the Under 13 Girls team beat the nearest rivals North Yorkshire by 42 points. In this competition Anna Dickie won the 2 Lap race and the Vertical Jump. Most of the 12 Under 13 Girls in the team came home with at least one medal and had a total tally of 26 individual medals and gold in 3 relays. The Team can now look forward to the trip to the National Exhibition Centre.
