Harrier Gold at Indoor Championships!

Morgan Corcoran won gold in both the 60m and 200m at the U15 Northern Indoor Championships in Sheffield on 3rd February. In the 60m he ran 7.40 in his heat and 7.48 in the final, and in the 200m, 24.56 in his heat, 24.58 in the semi-final and 24.19 in the final.

He returned to Sheffield last weekend (23rd/24th February) for the National Championships, again racing over 60m and 200m. He ran three personal bests in the 60m: 7.36 in his heat, 7.32 in the semi-final and 7.31 in the final, which earned him a silver medal.  In the 200m, he ran another personal best (23.86) in the heats and came fifth in the final. He’s currently placed 5th in this year’s UK rankings for both distances.

We had a second Harrier at the Nationals, Drew Walford, who competed in the U17 Men’s 60m, in which he ran a personal best of 7.35.

We can’t expect more of our athletes than running personal bests when it counts, so congratulations to Morgan and Drew on their great performances, and let’s not forget the contribution of their coach, Keith Daniel.
