As Ladies Fell Team Manager I am aiming to :
(1) get more ladies out on the fells this year through our club championship (see details https://www.bingleyharriers.co.uk/club-championships/fell-championships/ ). In summary run 5 out of 9 races (including 2 lengths – Short, Medium or Long) plus score some additional points by running some bonus races.
(2) get teams (of 3) to the English Fell Championship (EFC) races so we are in the team results at the end of the year. I have a few ladies who are targeting all of these and need a number of others who will commit to one or more to make sure we have a team.
Here is some brief news and requests* to get your entries (see link above) in :
We had a good turnout at the first event Ilkley on 18 Feb (see Facebook reports 18 Feb) and a great team result with Vic Wilkinson, Eliza Findlay and Shona Stone taking the race and Yorkshire Championship team prizes, and Vic in winning form again.
Edale Skyline (EFC 11 Mar) is full. I hope the 3 ladies entered stay fit for the day.
*Bunny Run 1 (Tue 27 Mar) is next – you can pre-enter all 3 BRs at a discounted price
*Three Peaks (Sat 28 Apr) – still places available. At 37km/24m you need to have some good distance & climbing in your legs already, and to have done 2 qualifying events.
*Clough Head (EFC, Sun 6 May) – some more entries needed here to support myself & Denise Wright already entered. A ‘Short’ (8km) race from Threlkeld near Keswick, Lake District.
*Buttermere (EFC, Sat 23 Jun) – entries open on 1 Mar. A long (35km/22m) challenging race. If you know you are up to this then book the date out (and some recce dates) and get entered. If you are interested but need to know more let me know.
*Kate Burge Sea to Summit (EFC, Sat 14 Jul) – entries open and filling. A big ask to get a team to the Isle of Man but if anyone wants to combine it with a holiday trip IOM is great and it will be a fantastic race. I’m booked in and will be spending a few days there with Alan. Dave Stephenson and Carl Hitchens are booked in too. A ‘Medium’ (14km) race.
*Turner Landscape (Club & EFC, Sat 11 Aug) – entries open by post – details on Facebook site https://www.facebook.com/turnerlandscapefellrace/. A ‘Medium’ 17km race in the Lake District. I know myself and Denise have entered but there is no published entry list so let me know if you enter.
