Fartown, Huddersfield, was the venue for the second race in the League, on a surprisingly mild day, and, although conditions underfoot were tricky in places, the course was nowhere near as bad as we had feared a few days before.
At the end of half-term week our numbers were somewhat depleted, with 20 Juniors taking part, but we were represented in every race. There were three scoring teams: the U13 Boys and U15 Girls both came 4th, and the U11 Boys an impressive 3rd.
On an individual level there was a great deal to be pleased with: the U11 Boys set the ball rolling, with Jake Wallace and Oliver Peace finishing 4th and 5th respectively; Alex Flaherty battled through to 2nd place in the U13 Boys; Ruby Firth improved to 8th in the U13 Girls; Eliza Findlay was 8th, with Katie Smith 14th in the U15 Girls; and Vicki Merrick was 7th in the U17s.
Overall a pleasing performance, and once again everyone that turned out did the Club proud, as can be seen from the following:
U11 Boys: 4th Jake Wallace; 5th Oliver Peace; 27th Alistair Trusselle; 43rd Waleed Raja
U11 Girls: 21st Rebecca Flaherty; 47th Lilly Smith
U13 Boys: 2nd Alex Flaherty; 19th Joseph Carnelley; 39th Dylan Thornton; 49 Ben Rees
U13 Girls: 8th Ruby Firth
U15 Boys: 13th Jonathan Sutcliffe
U15 Girls: 8th Eliza Findlay; 14th Katie Smith; 27th Kiran Bashir
U17 Men: 26th Jack Smith
U17 Women: 7th Vicki Merrick; 17th Abi White
Thanks once again to everyone for the great support, and let’s keep up the momentum!
