Victoria seals English Fell Championship with win at Guisborough Three Tops (15km, 744m) 6 Sept 15

A perfect late summer day saw Victoria Wilkinson take a clear win at Guisborough Three Tops, the last race in the English Fell Championship Series, confirming her as ladies English Fell Champion, for the third year in a row (2013 shared with Helen Fines of Calder). Victoria was 26th out of 245, in 76.06 against Pete Vale’s (Mercia) winning time of 71.39. Full results and Dave Aspin’s photos on http://www.eskvalleyfellclub.org/

As it was the last race in the series not all Bingley contenders made the trip as they may have already done sufficient races, but a few of the regulars did. Becky Weight was pleased to get 1st FV55 (163rd overall in 99.40) on the day and gain victory over some of close rivals to get 3rd FV55 in the championship series.   Peter Ellerton was 155th in 98.22 giving him 6th MV65 in the series. Gary Muir was 168th in 101.22. Rob Jebb wasn’t at Guisborough but his previous runs gave him equal third in the English Fell Championship in the Mens Open category and 2nd MV40. Others who ran some of the Championship races were Tom Gomersal, Philip Lincoln-Jones, Dave Weatherhead (MV70), Aly Raw (FV50) and Ian Holmes (MV45).  Full Championship results on http://fellrunner.org.uk/results/champs15/eng/15_english.pdf.
