An early season try out, good park grass running, and a still dry day following a warm September gave perfect conditions for the YVAA XC championships. Five Bingley ladies raced the (short) 5k 2 lap course. Team captain Sue Becconsall was unfortunately not with us as she is struggling with a bad back. Lesley Watson lead the way for Bingley ladies with a great 9th place overall in 17.00, in a competitive ladies field of 82 won by Helen Berry of Holmfirth in 15.40. Lesley was followed by Marisol Carrera Vivar (19th, 18.31) Becky Weight (26th, 19.12) Andrea Dennison (29th, 19.40) and Alison Marks (33rd, 20.19). Andrea and Alison took 2nd and 3rd FV50 and Becky 2nd FV55. Alison, Lesley and Marisol were also 3rd F35-44 team. In the same 2 lap race Les Haynes took M70 gold in 18.40 with Peter Covey taking silver in 19.45.
Our V60 men took the team gold in the 10k 4 lap race (65 runners, M50-69) with Peter Pyrah (15th overall, 2nd M60) Bryan Parkinson (39th) and Peter Ellerton (44th).
In a strong M35-49 field of 50 Stephen Bailey was 14th in 31.43 in a 10k 4 lap race won by Richard Harris of Rotherham Harriers in 28.35.
