YORKS VETS GRAND PRIX No7 CROSSGATES 29 JULY 2012

  • by

It was debatable whether sunshine or showers would prevail for this race, based at the John Smeaton leisure centre and hosted by St Theresa’s AC. The showers passed just before the start and we got mainly sunshine for the approx 5.5 mile undulating course over recently cut hayfields and woodland tracks. There were a few muddy sections and running over the stubble remaining after haymaking was hard work. 150 runners competed.

As with most of the races, Holmfirth took first in both mens and womens placings with David Watson M40 winning in 32m-52 and Margaret Sykes F40 in 38m-43.

Chris Gill, M65 St Theresa’s continued his winning form for that category with an impressive 24th place in 39-48.

Peter Covey took first M70 with 53rd place in 45-36.

Peter Ellerton chased Peter Covey for most of the race, but didn’t have the legs to overtake and finished 54th in 45-39, 4th M65.
